Northern Virginia Weather: Work Week Looking OK

STERLING, VA — The work week in Northern Virginia is expected to be a tad cooler than the one prior, according to the area arm of the National Weather Service in Sterling. Even so, this is late July, so expect temperatures in the 80s and the ever-present threat of isolated thunderstorms.

Monday should be a speed bump en route to better things, with a lingering possibility of showers. Flash ahead to Tuesday, though, and you're looking at a stretch of sunny days until Friday, when clouds could rule the day. Here's the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 75. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Monday: Isolated showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. West wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. North wind 3 to 6 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. North wind 6 to 9 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 70.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 72.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
