Prince William County police had been searching for a missing 16-year-old boy when they found the remains Tuesday.

NOKESVILLE, VA — Authorities on Thursday identified the human remains found this week in Nokesville as those of Palmer Marsh, a missing teenager. The Prince William County police were searching for Marsh on Tuesday when his remains were found around 3 p.m. in the woods in the 14800 block of Glenkirk Road, near Lake Manassas.

The 16-year-old had been missing from his Nokesville home since May 2. On Thursday, the Medical Examiner’s Office in Manassas confirmed the identity of the human remains as those of Marsh, the police said.

Palmer was reported missing to police on May 4 after he was last seen leaving May 2 on foot toward a wooded area of the family property in Nokesville. Since then, the police had conducted ground and aerial searches in and around the area with the help of FBI agents.
