Preserve Historic Old Town Manassas
Tell the Planning Board how you feel about high rise buildings in Old Town
Preserve HISTORIC MANASSAS
IS GAINING MOMENTUM !
We are trying to prevent more 5 1/2 story buildings from going up in historic Old Town Manassas because they are disproportionately high compared to the other 1-, 2-and 3-story buildings, most of which have been there unchanged for over 100 years. PLEASE HELP US if you love Old Town and its beautiful skyline.
PLEASE fill out our 7 question survey to tell the Planning Board how you want to see Old Town Manassas be developed. Go to www.preservehistoricmanassas.o...

It just takes a minute to make your voice heard.
The new Comprehensive plan being written right now will determine zoning. Most buildings in historic downtown Manassas are 35 feet tall or less. However, did you know that the CURRENT ZONING PERMITS BUILDINGS FROM 55 to 75 FEET TALL?! We need to convince the Planning Board that height limits need to be set for Old Town to preserve its unique historic look and feel. We are not against development, but we think that tall buildings like the Messenger Building should be built on the other side of the railroad tracks or OUTSIDE of the historic Old Town area. Such sites would still be within walking distance to the VRE and to Old Town shops and restaurants. This way, we preserve our town and still grow in a sensible way!
