Prince William County Schools Make Weather Decision For Dec. 16

BREAKING: There has been a change to Monday's schedule based on weather, according to Prince William County Public Schools.

MANASSAS, VA — Public schools in Prince William County will be closed Monday, Dec. 16, because of the weather. Officials made the announcement Sunday night.

All Prince William County Public Schools and Offices will be closed under a Code Red, the district said. That means:

  • Schools and offices are closed.
  • The School Age Child Care program will not open.
  • All non-school activities (day and evening) are canceled including Adult Education, night school classes, and recreational programs scheduled in school buildings.
  • Visit the Aquatics Center website for operation schedule during inclement weather.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for parts of Virginia. Forecasters say a wintry mix is likely to affect the Monday morning commute in the northern and central parts of the state.

Precipitation will arrive late Sunday and continue Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Snow and ice may accumulate.
