Prince William Offers Grant Assistance To Businesses, Nonprofits
Prince William County is providing micro-grants of up to $10,000 to small businesses and nonprofits harmed by the coronavirus crisis.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — The Prince William County Department of Economic Development is providing grants to small businesses and nonprofits in the county impacted by the coronavirus crisis. In this latest round of grant-giving, businesses and nonprofits have until Sunday, June 28 to apply for the grants.
The county's Small Business Relief Micro-Grant Program provides financial grants up to $10,000 to qualified Prince William County small businesses and nonprofits affected by the pandemic. Earlier this month, the county accepted applications in the first round of its micro-grant program.
Prince William County is providing the grants to assist eligible businesses in maintaining operations and can be used for ongoing expenses such as payroll, rent and insurance. Grant recipients can also use funds to purchase e-commerce equipment or expand websites and online sales capabilities.

Businesses and nonprofits can apply for the grants by downloading the financial form, gathering all the required documents, and uploading them to the online form.

Applications can also be emailed to the county by downloading the application form and then emailing the completed application and all the required documents to econdev@pwcgov.org. The micro-grant applications are available in English and Spanish.

To be eligible for a Prince William small business relief micro-grant, applicants must be:
- For-profit and 501c3 non-profit organizations.
- Home-based business.
- Sole proprietor.
- LLC, Corporation or S-Corp.
- Locally owned franchise business located in Prince William County.
- Gross revenue must be under $2.5 million for 2019 calendar year. Business must have been operational in Prince William County for two years as of application date.
- Must have one or more physical locations in Prince William County, including the principal place of business.
- Experienced at least a 25-percent decline in gross revenues attributable to the COVID-19 pandemic and must document this gross revenue decline in financial statement.
The following businesses are ineligible for grants:
- Banks and financial institutions.
- Franchise businesses, except those that are registered in Virginia and locally owned/operated in Prince William County.
- Vape and tobacco retailers.
- Adult entertainment businesses.
