Prince William Primary Election 2019: Results

Here's a look at the June 11 primary election results for the Prince William County area.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA—Here's a rundown of the results in the area's June 11 2019 primary election to determine candidates for the Nov. 5 general election.

In the Senate 13th District (including Loudoun and Prince William) on the Republican side, two are candidates were going for the soon-to-be-vacant seat of Dick Black: Geary M. Higgins beat Ron A. Meyer Jr., both of whom are Loudoun County supervisors. As noted by the Prince William Times, the district is one of just two in Northern Virginia controlled by the GOP.

In the Senate 28th District (including parts of Prince William Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George and Westmoreland) on the Democratic side, Quasim Rashid turned back Laura Sellers. On the Republican side, incumbent Richard Stuart was unopposed.

In the House 50th District, including the Manassas area, on the Democratic side, self-described Democratic Socialist Lee Carter won his challenge from Mark Wolfe, a Manassas City councilman.

In the House 52nd District on the Democratic side, Luke E. Torian beat Kevin M. Wade.

In the House 87th District (including parts of Prince William and Loudoun) on the Democratic side, the four candidates were Suhas Subramanyam (the winner), Hassan M. Ahmad, Akshay Bhamidipati and Johanna L. Gusman. Notes the Washington Post, all four are first-generation Americans.

With venerable Prince William County Commonwealth's Attorney Paul Ebert having announced he will retire after 50 years, Democrats Tracey A. Lennox fell to Amy K. Asworth . And in the Democratic sheriff's race, Joshua Lavon King beat Brian K. Fields.

Meanwhile, four districts on the Democratic side had primary races for supervisor.

In the Coles District, Raheel Sheikh beat Latonsha D. Pridgen.

In the Occoquan District, Kenny Allen Boddye beat Aaron C. Edmond.

In the Neabsco District, Victor S. Angry fended off a challenge from Aracely Panameno.

In the Woodbridge District, Frank J. Principi was taken down by challenger Margaret A. Franklin.
