Sonic Celebrates 1-Year Anniversary In Manassas With Gifts, Swag
The Sonic Drive-In restaurant in the Manassas area is celebrating its one-year anniversary by hosting a customer appreciation weekend.
MANASSAS, VA — The Sonic Drive-In restaurant in the Manassas area is celebrating its one-year anniversary by hosting a customer appreciation weekend that will include donating $25 to area public school teachers. Customers will also enjoy other surprises and swag at the Sonic from Friday, Sept. 18 to Sunday, Sept. 20.
A portion of proceeds from any in-person purchase made from Friday through Sunday will be donated to the Martin K. Alloy Boys & Girls Club of Manassas. The franchise owners of the Sonic Drive-In, Steven Covey and Jerome Johnson, also will make a donation to Grace Church to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the restaurant.
The Sonic opened a year ago in a former Burger King near the Balls Ford Road-Sudley Road intersection.

The $25 donations will be made to Manassas area public school teachers whose requests are listed on DonorsChoose, Sonic's Limeades for Learning partner that supports public school teachers and students by providing school supplies and learning resources. More than 20 Manassas area teachers have made requests for supplies on DonorsChoose, according to Sonic.
“Our one-year anniversary is a testament that Prince William County and our guests have warmly welcomed us to the community,” Covey and Johnson said Wednesday in a statement. “We are grateful to be a part of the Manassas community and have made it a goal to not only provide guests with the best dining experience, but also help in any way that we can especially during unprecedented times.”

Covey and Johnson also have donated meals to local homeless shelters and supported other community initiatives.
Nationwide, Sonic also is kicking off its annual Limeades for Learning fall voting campaign. From Sept. 28 through Oct. 25, teachers will have the opportunity to receive funding for learning supplies. Customers are asked to vote for their favorite teacher requests on LimeadesForLearning.com for Sonic to donate $1 million toward the requests.
Customers can vote once a day online from Sept. 28 to Oct. 25 using a valid email address. Learning requests that receive the most votes nationwide will receive funding. The maximum funding per project will be $600.
