PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Children aged 12 to 15 are now eligible for a coronavirus vaccine in Prince William County. The Prince William Health District began administering the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine to children yesterday, according to a news release from the county.

The health district's decision to start vaccinating children comes after the Pfizer vaccine was authorized for use in children by the FDA and CDC earlier this week. The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have not been authorized for use in people under the age of 18.

Children can receive the coronavirus vaccine at the community vaccination center in Woodbridge. The clinic is located at 14011 Worth Avenue, in the former Gander Mountain store.

Walk-ins are accepted at the clinic, but appointments are highly recommended. The clinic operates from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.

Children have to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at their vaccination appointment. The guardian must also have proof of their relationship, the health district said.

To schedule a vaccine appointment, the health district recommended using the Virginia Department of Health's website. There, residents can search for the Pfizer vaccine within 25 miles. The clinic in Woodbridge should be listed as an option.

To find the Pfizer vaccine at a pharmacy or healthcare provider in the area, residents can visit the state of Virginia's vaccine finder tool. Anyone who has difficulty finding an appointment can also call the state's vaccine hotline from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 1-877-829-4682.
