Wet Weekend Ahead: Virginia Weather Forecast

Now that the crippling heat is behind us, we'll see cooler temperatures this weekend. But, there's a price: thunderstorms.

Heavy rain is possible during thunderstorms Saturday, including the potential for some flooding. Storms are expected to arrive after 11 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature will be 85 degrees.

Rain is expected to continue into the evening. Sunday will be mostly cloudy, and a storm can't be ruled out, again.

Monday will see temperatures reach the upper 80s, with a slight chance for precipitation. We should reach 90 degrees by the end of the week.

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11am. High near 85. Southeast wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Patchy fog after 2am. Low around 71. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. Light and variable wind becoming north around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Monday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Chance of precipitation is 30%
