White Christmas? Weather Forecast for Manassas

Area could see "snow showers" Christmas Eve.

While there are no chances of a white Christmas this year in Northern Virginia (even though there was snow exactly one week before the holiday) we will at least see colder, wintry temperatures by then, according to forecasters.

Christmas Day on Wednesday is expected to be sunny with a high of 35 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather leading up to Christmas Day is warm and rainy. Monday will see the heaviest rain fall before 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The high Monday is expected to be 60 degrees. Temperatures begin to dip Monday afternoon, with a low Monday night of 35 degrees.

On Tuesday, the warm balmy temperatures from the past few days are gone, with temperatures reaching a high of just 39 degrees. Northern Virginia has a chance of snow showers Tuesday afternoon, a 40 percent chance, after 3 p.m. Forecasters say any snow that falls will not stick.

Christmas Day through Friday is expected to be sunny and chilly with highs in the 30s and 40s.
