Winter Weather Advisory for Monday-Tuesday

A winter weather advisory for snow will be in effect from 10 p.m. until midnight late Tuesday.

Snow accumulation of 1-3 inches is expected, with locally higher amounts, particularly in the northwest suburbs of D.C., according to the National Weather Service.

A mixture of rain and snow will develop Monday evening, with precipitation turning to all snow around or shortly after midnight.

Periods of snow will continue into Tuesday and the advisory may need to be extended.

Snow covered roads, limited visibility and other travel disruptions are possible, according to the weather service.
