Two people hurt in kitchen fire at restaurant in Old Towne Petersburg (progress-index.com) — A kitchen fire at Wabi Sabi in Old Towne Petersburg injured two workers Friday morning and forced the popular restaurant to close temporarily. Petersburg Fire & EMS say the building was safely evacuated and the suppression system put out the blaze, but there’s no firm reopening date yet while the investigation continues.
   

2. Crime data for Tri-Cities show mixed results from 2024 to 2025 (wric.com) — Petersburg residents are seeing mixed crime trends, with overall major crime numbers still highest in the Tri-Cities but homicides dropping sharply from 24 in 2024 to eight in 2025. FBI data also show larceny-thefts down but property-damage cases rising significantly, while nearby Hopewell and Colonial Heights experience different shifts in crime patterns.
   

3. Man hospitalized after being attacked by dogs in Colonial Heights (progress-index.com) — A Petersburg man has been jailed after police say his three pit bulls attacked a 38-year-old at a Colonial Heights apartment complex, leaving the victim seriously injured but stable at a Richmond hospital. The owner, identified as Brandon Lamar White of Petersburg, faces multiple animal cruelty and abandonment charges, along with outstanding failure-to-appear warrants from both Petersburg and Colonial Heights.
   

4. 3 juveniles charged in auto thefts, crashes (nbc12.com) — Colonial Heights police say three Hopewell juveniles, ages 12 to 17, face multiple charges after crashing two stolen cars in a neighborhood early Thursday. One vehicle carried Virginia tags reported stolen from the City of Petersburg, and all three teens were treated for minor injuries before being placed in juvenile detention pending court in Colonial Heights.
