1. Questions remain on I-81 bridge project (montcova.com) — Drivers using I-81 near Radford should know the new northbound bridge over the New River is open but still has an unopened, uneven section that will require more work in spring 2026. VDOT says the structure is safe, while crews finalize a corrective plan for the remaining portion and the Route 232 bridge at Exit 105.
   

2. Radford Foundry revitalization progressing (wsls.com) — A long-idle industrial site in Radford is being reborn through a $3.5 million state grant, with officials hoping to attract an employer that could bring more than 1,000 jobs. The former Radford Foundry brownfield is being remediated, including soil cleanup and removal of a massive concrete pad, to create a modern industrial campus that restores a major piece of the city’s economic base.
   

3. Radford sweeps VHSL Class 2 volleyball honors (wsls.com) — Radford High School volleyball just swept the top Class 2 state honors, with senior setter Mattox Adams named Player of the Year and coach Karen Adams earning Coach of the Year. The Bobcats capped a 25-1 season with their third state title under Adams, while several Radford players landed on the all-state first and second teams.
   

4. Wright, Douglas (nrvnews.com) — Radford readers should know that Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford is caring for the family of Douglas “Doug” Wright, who passed away December 7 at age 65. Born in Pulaski, Doug was known for his love of music, especially guitar, banjo, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, as well as his flat-foot dancing and fondness for fiddler conventions and National Geographic.
