1. One of Virginia Beach's original motels will be demolished (pilotonline.com) — One of Virginia Beach’s oldest Oceanfront motels, Jefferson Manor Motel Apartments on Pacific Avenue, will be demolished in early 2026 to make way for a taller senior living community. The project, which required a city-approved height variance, will also replace the nearby Beach Tower building and parking lots, trading a mid-century landmark for new independent living units and amenities like an indoor pool and pickleball court.
   

2. Attorney: Charges against Kempsville HS assistant principal, brother to be set aside (wavy.com) — Charges against a Kempsville High School assistant principal and his brother are expected to be set aside in Virginia Beach General District Court, according to the assistant principal’s attorney. The men, previously charged with conspiracy to commit malicious wounding after alarming comments overheard by an off-duty officer, remain on bond while the school employee is on leave from Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
   

3. True Crime 757: The case of Christina Wang, accused of killing her Navy Sailor husband (wtkr.com) — A high-profile domestic violence homicide case in Virginia Beach is moving toward a 2026 trial for Christina Wang, who is accused of fatally shooting her Navy sailor husband. A new True Crime 757 episode revisits what led up to the killing, the social media attention it drew locally, and how the victim’s mother is coping while raising the couple’s young son in Virginia.
   

4. Nancy Spies Cummins - Worcester County News Bayside Gazette (baysideoc.net) — A beloved former Thoroughgood Elementary third-grade teacher and longtime Virginia Aquarium volunteer who spent much of her life in Virginia Beach has died at age 102. Her family remembers her sharp mind, deep faith at Old Donation Episcopal, and decades of service and humor that touched students, neighbors, and friends across the community.
   

5. Lafayette native Thamous Calais marks 23 years in U.S. Navy (theadvertiser.com) — A U.S. Navy security unit headquartered in Virginia Beach is spotlighted through the career of Chief Petty Officer Thamous Calais, who serves with Maritime Expeditionary Security Group 2. The piece focuses on his Lafayette roots, long service, and mentoring of younger sailors while briefly highlighting the group’s global port and harbor protection mission.
