Arrests Made in Fatal Shooting of Woodbridge High School Student

Three suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting death of Brenden Michael Wilson, a 16-year-old Woodbridge Senior High School student who was shot and killed near the school Monday afternoon. The homicide marks Prince William County’s fifth murder in 2014.

Prince William County Police said the shooting occurred Monday, Nov. 10 at 4:28 p.m. near the 12500 block of Oakwood Drive in Woodbridge.

Officers located Wilson on a pathway between the school and an adjoining neighborhood. He reportedly sustained gunshot-related injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two days later, detectives from the Homicide Unit identified four suspects in connection with the shooting. An investigation revealed the incident was drug related and all parties were known to one another. Police have since located and arrested three of the suspects and are actively searching for a fourth suspect, who was identified as a juvenile.

Kawain Tyrell Smalls, 20, of Woodbridge, was with murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Kymothy-Tyriq Desean WILSON, 18, of Woodbridge, was charged with conspiracy to commit a felony. Both suspects are being held without bond and are scheduled to appear in court Jan. 25, 2015.

A 17-year-old male juvenile from Woodbridge was charged with conspiracy to commit a felony. He is currently being held at a juvenile detention facility while a court date is pending.
