Blackburn Road Bridge to Reopen with Improvements

The Virginia Department of Transportation said the new bridge cost about $2.7 million and has added a sidewalk and improvements to help during high water events.

“The new bridge has a deeper foundation and a larger opening for the waterway that will improve overall durability and performance during high-water events,” sai VDOT bridge engineer Nicholas Roper in a release.
Over the weekend, crews will pave the roadway and install guardrail.
