Burglary Suspect Sought In Woodbridge Break-In Attempt: Police

A man from Springfield is wanted in connection with a burglary that occurred in Woodbridge on Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A man from Springfield is wanted by authorities after he was accused of burglarizing a home in Woodbridge on Wednesday, June 2. Authorities have not been able to locate the accused, who they identified as Joshua James Lewis, a 33-year-old resident of Springfield.

Officers with the Prince William County Police Department received a report of the burglary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2. The homeowner told police that his rear surveillance camera captured the burglary around 10 a.m., according to a report from the police department.

The video footage showed a man enter the fenced backyard and attempt to enter the home through a back door, authorities said. However, the back door was locked. The suspect then left the area on foot, police said.

The suspect was not able to enter the home, and no property was reported missing, according to the police report.

Investigators identified the suspect as Lewis and subsequently received warrants for his arrest. However, authorities have been unable to locate him.

The police department described Lewis as a white man, about five feet ten inches tall, and weighing about 180 pounds. He has blue eyes and shoulder-length red hair, police said.

Lewis's last known address is in the 8000 block of Carbondale Way in Springfield, authorities said. He is wanted for burglary.

Authorities said another attempted burglary was reported in 3500 block of Shandor Lane in Woodbridge on Wednesday morning. Similarly, surveillance footage showed suspects attempting to enter a home through a rear sliding glass door, according to the police department.

However, the suspects fled the area after an alarm began to sound. No property was reported missing, and no description was available for the suspects.
