The technology it currently uses is only able to send voice and small amounts of data, according to a release from Public Safety Communications.
Through this upgrade, officials can start using modern technology when processing calls. It’s also preparing the county so it will be able to eventually receive photos and videos during an emergency.
A few other localities are using ESInet, including Fairfax County, Fauquier County, and Loudoun County.
