Flash Flood Watch: Timeline, Impacts

More rain Thursday could lead to dangerous driving conditions, according to the National Weather Service.

STERLING, VA -- A flash flood watch will be in effect from 9 a.m. Thursday until 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Sterling.

Up to two inches of rain fell Wednesday across the area, according to the NWS, with another quick inch of rain possible today.

“Given the saturated soil and little vegetation, this rainfall would lead to flash flooding of urban areas, small streams and creeks,” according to the statement.
