Halloween ComicFest at Painted Visions This Weekend

This weekend, Painted Visions in Woodbridge and other 1,400 participating comic book specialty shops will take part in Halloween ComicFest 2013, where fans can get free Halloween-themed comics. 

"This is the second largest free comic book event of the year," Diamond Comic Distributors representative Deborah Moreland. The largest is Free Comic Book Day.

There will be 22 different Halloween-themed comics and mini comics. 

"The titles of the comics include Batman, Spider-Man, Thor, Adventure Time, Archie, Sonic, and many more that comic fans of all ages will enjoy," Moreland said.

Individual shops may also have special events including comic signings, pumpkin decorating contests, sales, and more. 

Take part in "The Greatest Halloween Costume Context Ever," which runs through Nov. 15. Grab a costume contest button from a participating shop, snap a picture of yourself in costume featuring the button, and then submit it at www.halloweencomicfest.com/costumecontest.

"Two random winners will win a $500 shopping spree to the comic shop of their choice," Moreland said.
