Jack Russell Puppy Who Survived Neglect Gets Adopted: Police
A Jack Russell Terrier puppy was adopted by new owners after recovering from alleged neglect by the previous owner, the police said.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Jack Russell Terrier puppy was adopted by new owners after facing a life-threatening condition due to alleged neglect by the previous owner, according to the Prince William County Police Department. After investigating the treatment of the puppy, Prince William County animal control officers obtained a warrant for the arrest of a 35-year-old woman from Woodbridge on a charge of felony animal cruelty.
The county animal control officers began an investigation Jan. 29 into a case of alleged animal cruelty at a residence in the 2400 block of West Longview Drive between Jan. 8 and Jan. 27. The investigation revealed that the woman refused to provide necessary medical care for a life-threatening condition for the female Jack Russel Terrier, who was 6 weeks old at the time.
The woman initially brought the puppy to a local veterinary clinic on Jan. 11 where the medical condition was diagnosed and immediate care recommended. The woman allegedly refused initial care and did not seek any additional treatment for the puppy until Jan. 27 when she attempted to surrender the puppy to the Prince William County Animal Shelter, according to the police department.
