A Purchase of Development Rights Program has been approved by officials.
Those who live in this area and own at least 20 acres of agricultural land may apply to sell developmental rights to Prince William County, according to a release from the Office of Communications.

Through the voluntary program, community members will be able to maintain ownership and preserve the land for various uses, including nature, agriculture and historic.
Located across Prince William County, the rural crescent covers more than 100,000 acres. It’s made up of private property, historic sites and a state park.
Brentsville District Supervisor Jeanine Lawson spoke about what the rural crescent is and its importance in an interview earlier this year.
