Man Shot After Argument Outside Apartments In Woodbridge: Police

One man was shot and hospitalized after a dispute in the parking lot of Bayvue Apartments in Woodbridge, according to the police department.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A man was shot outside of the Bayvue Apartment complex on Monday morning. The Prince William County Police Department said the shooting was not random, and they are looking for more information surrounding the incident.

At 12:35 a.m. on Monday, police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of Bayside Avenue in Woodbridge. Residents in the area told officers that they heard gunshots and a group of people quickly dispersed.

When officers arrived on the scene, they saw a vehicle matching a description that was given to them. The officers conducted a traffic stop and found a 30-year-old man in the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a news release from the police department.

The man was flown to an area hospital for treatment. Authorities said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

During their investigation, authorities determined that an argument between two groups occurred before shots were fired. Officers also found shell casings in the parking lot.

The police department said that one residence and three vehicles were struck by bullets. Apart from the 30-year-old man, no other injuries were reported.

Detectives with Prince William's Violent Crime Bureau are looking to determine what factors led to the shooting. In a report, the department emphasized that "this incident does not appear to be random."
