Manassas City Library Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Takes Place

Those living in Manassas have another avenue for acquiring literature.

Manassas City Library opened in the Wellington Station Shopping Center a few months ago, according to a release from Prince William County.

Prince William County, the City of Manassas and Friends of the Library participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday.

“Adding a 12th library to our community further helps us with our strategic goals of making sure that we reach all sections of our community,” Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) Chair Ann Wheeler said in a release. “The staff, the resources and the information made available really will help … children and life-long earners as well as workforce development.”

STEAM programs and a variety of activities are offered at the new facility, which spans more than 6,000 square feet at 10104 Dumfries Road.

It also features e-books, e-audio, magazines, twelve computers and free WiFi.

“This library opens opportunities, not just to learn about new places, but to open the minds of young people and give them opportunities to expand their horizons,” Manassas Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger said in a release. “The city of Manassas has worked hard with Prince William County to make this library a reality for the residents of both the city of Manassas and Prince William County.”

The city signed a 10-year agreement on the branch last year.
