Maternity Apparel Store Closing 6 NoVA Locations: Report
Destination Maternity, Motherhood Maternity and A Pea In A Pod are closing 201 stores across the U.S. as part of the company's bankruptcy.
As Destination Maternity continues through its Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection case, the company announced last week it plans to close 201 Destination Maternity and Motherhood Maternity stores across the country. The New Jersey-based company has 62 Destination Maternity stores across the country, in addition to its 799 Motherhood Maternity stories and its 40 Pea in the Pod stores.
In Virginia, USA Today reports, the company said it plans to close stores at the following locations:
- Arlington - Motherhood Maternity
- Charlottesville - Motherhood Maternity
- Dulles - Motherhood Maternity
- McLean - A Pea in the Pod
- Prince William - Motherhood Maternity
- Springfield - Motherhood Maternity
The company did not provide specific addresses of each store it plans to close; however, Potomac Local reported Motherhood Maternity in Potomac Mills, 2700 Potomac Mills Cir. in Woodbridge, is among the closures.

According to Destination Maternity's website, the company has 30 total stores in Virginia, including three Destination Maternity stores, 28 Motherhood Maternity stores, and two A Pea in the Pod stores. As stores prepare to close, liquidation sales are planned through the end of the year.
Destination Maternity is among the latest retail businesses to file for bankruptcy. The company, which has $260 million in assets and is $244 million in debt, filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 21, according to court documents.

Despite the closures, the company does expect to continue operating brick-and-mortar and online stores.
