MLK Jr. Day In Woodbridge: Oratorical Contest, Day Of Service
Events will be held in Woodbridge to pay tribute to the legendary civil rights icon.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Students representing schools from Prince William County, Manassas City, and Manassas Park on Jan. 20 will share their thoughts on the theme "Let Freedom Ring" as part of the 30th Annual MLK Oratorical Contest celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The event is sponsored by the Delta Research and Educational Foundation in affiliation with Prince William County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and in conjunction with the Cecil and Irene Hylton Foundation.
Along with the oratorical contest, the event will feature the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Choir, composed of children from kindergarten to high school.

Doors to the Hylton Memorial Chapel at 14640 Potomac Mills Rd. in Woodbridge open at 10 a.m. where attendees will get to visit vendors and community organizations. The program begins at 11 a.m.
Earlier in the day, the Prince William County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. is taking a Day On instead of a Day Off in support of the local community. Starting at 5:30 a.m., donations will be collected in the fellowship hall at Neabsco Baptist Church at 15545 Cardinal Dr. in Woodbridge.

Donations of winter wear will be accepted on behalf of the Streetlight Ministry and canned/dried goods will be accepted on behalf of the Prince William County Community Foundation and the Good News Kitchen. Molette Green of NBC 4 will be broadcasting live from the church from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.
