
New graduation requirements for students entering the ninth grade next year have been adopted statewide.
Two diplomas have been added to the curriculum, standard and advanced technical diplomas have changed credit requirements and in some diploma tracks, the types of credits have changed.
The new requirements will only affect students entering ninth grade in the fall.Â

Standard technical and advanced technical diplomas have been added to curriculum; both diplomas are career and technical education-focused. The standard technical diploma will require 22 units of credit and six verified units of credit. Advanced technical diploma will require 26 units of credit and nine verified units of credit.
The advanced studies diploma will require more credits; the course of study has increased from 24 standard units of credit to 26 with nine verified units of credit.

An economics and personal finance course will be required for the standard, standard technical, advanced studies and advanced technical diplomas.
Starting in fall of 2011, only advanced studies students will need one standard unit of credit in fine arts or career and technical education. This diploma also requires three standard units of credit in career and technical education, to include an approved career concentration.
