New Vaccine Scheduling System In Place For Prince William County

The Prince William Health District said it has switched to a new system called PrepMod to schedule coronavirus vaccine appointments.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — The Prince William Health District switched to a new coronavirus vaccine scheduling system earlier this month, according to a news release. The new system, PrepMod, is already used by other health districts in Virginia.

In the Prince William Health District, PrepMod replaced the CDC's Vaccine Administration Management System. Those who scheduled their first vaccine doses through VAMS will be contacted by county's call center to set up an appointment for their second dose, according to the news release.

Those who have not received a call within three days of their second dose due date should reach out to the Prince William County COVID Call Center. The call center can be reached at 703-872-7759.

The Prince William Health District started offering the Johnson & Johnson one dose vaccine last week. The health district also offers the Moderna vaccine, while many pharmacy partners in the area use the Pfizer vaccine, the county noted in a news release.

The health district does not recommend any vaccine over another. However, when scheduling their appointment, residents can see which vaccination is being offered by a particular clinic. They can then schedule an appointment with a clinic that offers their preferred vaccine.

Virginia is currently in Phase 1b of its vaccine rollout plan. Eligible people include essential workers, people aged 65 and older, and those with underlying medical conditions.

All Virginia residents, regardless of their eligibility, can preregister for the vaccine online. Residents will then receive an email when they are able to schedule an appointment.

Anyone with questions about the vaccine, their appointment, or their eligibility can call the state's vaccine call center at 877-829-4682. The Prince William Health District also offers a call center that can be reached at 703-872-7759.
