Occoquan I-95 Bottleneck Relief Project Set For Public Comment
The VDOT meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 4 at Old Bridge Elementary School in Woodbridge.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is holding a public hearing Wednesday, Dec. 4 on its plans to build a fourth-lane on I-95 south, between Route 123 at Occoquan and the Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge. VDOT hopes to begin construction on the new lane in spring 2021.
The 1.5-mile lane will relieve congestion and improve safety and operations on I-95 between the two exits, VDOT said. The $32 million project will be financed with federal and state funding, as well as part of the concession fee provided under the 95 Express Lanes Project Comprehensive Agreement.
"The Occoquan bottleneck is the worst traffic problem in Virginia and has been one of my top priorities since I was elected to represent Prince William County in 2015," state Senator Scott Surovell said in a statement earlier this year.
