Police Make Arrest in Dec. 20 Exxon Station Assault

Police arrested a 48-year-old Woodbridge man Saturday in connection with an assault that took place at an Exxon on Jefferson Davis Highway.

Prince William County Police responded to a report of an assault Saturday, Dec. 20 at an Exxon Service Station located at 14451 Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge.

The victim, a 52-year-old Woodbridge man, told police he was pumping gas when an unknown man approached him. The man reportedly became agitated and began assaulting the victim before fleeing the area in a vehicle.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with a significant head injury, police report.

On Christmas Eve, officers received information that the suspect was at Potomac Mills Mall and identified the man as the accused. Following the investigation, officers arrested the accused Saturday, Dec. 27 without further incident.

Louis Melvin Taper, 48, of Woodbridge, was charged with unlawful wounding. He is scheduled to appear before court March 9, 2015.
