Possible ISIS Propaganda Discovered at Quantico Marine Corps Base

Leaflets that may be associated with the Islamic State terrorist group were discovered Wednesday near the Quantico Marine Corps base.

An investigation is underway at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Va. following the discovery of leaflets that may be associated with Islamic State terrorist group often referred to as ISIS or ISIL.

A government employee came across seven of the leaflets Wednesday afternoon while running through a major Marine Corps installation in Quantico, the Marine Corps Times reported Friday.

The leaflets contain a reverse image of the Islamic State group’s flag and writing in Arabic that reads, “We are here from Mexico and came by train,” according to base spokesman Maj. Andrew J. Bormann.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) are working to determine the authenticity of the leaflets. Base commanders have since issued a directive telling marines to ”report even the most minor suspicious activity.”
