One lane of traffic has been opened in the Quantico area on the northbound side of I-95 after an overnight crash killed one person.
QUANTICO, VA — Part of Interstate 95 north is closed between the Russell Road and Triangle exits in Quantico, following a crash early Wednesday morning involving multiple vehicles. Virginia State Police said the crash resulted in one death. Three other individuals were transported to nearby hospitals with serious injuries, WTOP reported Wednesday morning.
One lane of traffic has been opened this morning for commuters. Officials warned part of I-95 could be shut down through the morning rush hour.
After the early morning crash, drivers were diverted onto Route 1. But some drivers had been stuck in traffic beyond the diversion point to Route 1 since 1 a.m. Those drivers were allowed to pass when the single lane opened just before 7 a.m on Jan. 8, according to the WTOP report.

The cause of the crash, which included a snow plow, is under investigation.
Friends, if you can delay travel this AM, please do. Despite crews being out overnight treating roads, *there are still icy spots* due to the temps. Also, a major crash has 95NB closed before Joplin in Triangle. Expect heavy traffic on Rt 1 around @MCB_Quantico.
