Unknown Man Attempted To Abduct Girl From Her Bedroom: Police

An unidentified man attempted to abduct an 11-year-old girl from her home in Woodbridge last week, according to the police department.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Someone tried to abduct an 11-year-old girl from her bedroom last week, according to the Prince William County Police Department. Now, authorities are looking to speak with anyone who might have more information about the attempted abduction.

The attempted abduction occurred in the 1900 block of Heatherbrook Court in Woodbridge on Thursday, June 10. The 11-year-old victim told police that the incident started when she heard a knocking at her bedroom window, according to the police report. The girl's bedroom is on the second floor of the home.

The girl opened the window in an attempt to identify the sound. When she leaned out of the window to continue searching, and unknown man "wrapped his arms around her," police said.

The girl and the suspect both fell to the deck below her window. After falling to the deck, the girl ran to the front of the house where she told a family member what happened.

The 11-year-old did not report any injuries in the incident, according to the report from the police department.

Authorities said that witnesses saw the suspect flee the area on foot. Police officers responded around 10:45 p.m. and began to canvass the area. One witness told officers that he saw someone, who may have been a teenaged boy, outside of the bedroom window. The witness said the boy was talking to someone inside of the room.

The Prince William County Police Department did not have a full suspect description available. However, they said the suspect was approximately five feet, six inches tall with a medium build.
