Thanksgiving 2020: What's Open, Closed In Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Thursday, Nov. 26 is Thanksgiving Day and a federal holiday, which means government offices, schools and some businesses will take a break in its observance.

Here are the openings and closings in the Woodbridge area on and around Thursday, Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving) and Friday, Nov. 29 (Black Friday).

Prince William County Offices: All county offices will be closed Nov. 25-27.

Prince William County Schools: There will be no school for students Nov. 25-27.

Post offices and mail: Closed Thanksgiving Day. No mail will be delivered.

County Courts: All Prince William County courts and court offices will close at 12 p.m. Nov. 25 and remain closed through Nov. 27.

State Courts: Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed Nov. 26.

Virginia Railway Express: VRE does not operate on Thanksgiving Day. Also, due to the pandemic, VRE trains will not operate on Black Friday. Looking ahead, trains will not operate Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. During the week between Christmas and New Year's Day, trains will run on an S schedule, as opposed to the S+ schedule they are currently running. For more information, visit www.vre.org.

Libraries: All Prince William County Public Libraries will close at 5 p.m. Nov. 25 and remain closed through the weekend. Branches will reopen with limited services and curbside pickup on Monday, Nov. 30.

Historic Sites and Museums: The Henry Hill Visitor Center at Manassas National Battlefield Park is closed Thanksgiving Day. Many county historic sites including the Rippon Lodge Historic Site in Woodbridge are closed for the season, but other sites are open for self-guided walks.

Landfill/Recycling: The County Landfill in Manassas and the Balls Ford Road Compost Facility are closed Thanksgiving Day. Residents may take recycling to several drop-off trailers throughout the county.

Trash Collection: Check with your independent provider about trash collection.
