Thursday Night Lights: High School Sports Roundup

Woodbridge Patch attended the WSHS vs. GFSHS Varsity field hockey game and the WSHS Varsity football game Thursday night.

Typically Friday night is the time when Woodbridge area football stadium lights are ablaze, but in observance of Jewish holiday Yom Kippur a few major varsity games were played Thursday night instead of Friday.

Woodbridge Patch rounded up the local games and snapped some photos for your viewing pleasure. A cross-town match-up against Woodbridge Senior High School and Gar-Field Senior High School's varsity field hockey teams was played despite the intermittent rain. In an under-attended game, the Vikings swept the Indians, 5-0.

Thursday night was also the kick-off of the Vikings' varsity football game at home but the threat of more rain and a pre-season record of 0-2 may have kept the fans at home a bit longer.
