Very Cold Start Before Showers Return: Virginia Weather Forecast

Temperatures will slowly warm over the week, but it'll start Sunday night in the 30s.

Areas to the west of our region are facing a frost advisory.

And states in the Midwest and Northeast are seeing record low temperatures, and even snow, according to the Weather Channel.

We're enjoying a break in the clouds, but the threat for showers will return soon.

The best chance for rain arrives on Tuesday.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 38. West wind 12 to 17 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 64. West wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Tuesday: Showers likely, mainly after 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 59. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 69.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 71.

Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
