Veterans Day 2019: Ceremony, What's Open, Closed In Woodbridge

Veterans Day honors all who have served in the U.S. armed forces. Here's what's open and closed for the federal holiday.

WOODBRIDGE, VA —Veterans Day is Monday, and for anyone wishing to honor those who served in the U.S. armed forces, there will be ceremonies throughout Prince William County. However, the holiday will affect the hours and schedules of various area services and offices.

In Prince William County, the annual Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at Quantico National Cemetery at 11 a.m. The ceremony, hosted by the Potomac Region Veterans Council, is open to all. When you arrive, grounds and cemetery personnel will guide you through the parking process. Organizers ask attendees to arrive by 10:30 a.m. to allow time for parking.

Closings & Schedule Changes

Prince William County Offices: All county offices will be closed Nov. 11.

Prince William County Schools: There will be no school for students Nov. 11.

Post Offices: Closed Nov. 11. No mail will be delivered.

County Courts: All Prince William County courts will be closed on Veterans Day.

State Courts: Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed Nov. 11.

Metrorail: The Metro system will be open 5 a.m.-11:30 p.m. and operate on a Saturday schedule.

Metrobus: Buses will operate on a Saturday and supplemental schedule on Nov. 11. See bus timetables.

Virginia Railway Express: VRE does not operate on Veterans Day. For more information, visit www.vre.org.

Libraries: All Prince William County Public Libraries will be closed Sunday, Nov. 10 through Monday, Nov. 11. Neighborhood libraries also will be closed Nov. 9. Potomac and Haymarket Gainesville Community Libraries will not be accepting passports during this time.

Historic Sites and Museums: Manassas National Battlefield Park is open regular hours Nov. 11. Many county historic sites including the Rippon Lodge Historic Site in Woodbridge are also open for tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Landfill/Recycling: The County Landfill in Manassas will open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Veterans Day, as will the Balls Ford Road Compost Facility, which will be open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents may also take recycling to several drop-off trailers throughout the county.

Trash Collection: Check with your independent provider about trash collection.
