Virginia Weather Forecast: Cold Nights, Fall Days This Week

STERLING, VA — Widespread frost is expected to kick off the week for much of the area Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service. It'll begin a week of cold nights and fall days, says forecasters.

A freeze warning is in place from 3-9 a.m. Monday for areas in and around Prince William, Manassas, Fairfax, Reston, Herndon, Centreville, Chantilly and Franconia. With temperatures around freezing, unprotected vegetation will be killed or damaged, according to the weather service.

A frost advisory is in place from 3-9 a.m. Monday for areas in and around Stafford, Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, Arlington, Falls Church and Alexandria. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 30s, potentially impacting sensitive plants.

We'll get to a high near 59 degrees Monday. Tuesday offers a brief warm-up to 66 degrees, but we'll quickly settle back into daytime highs near 60 and overnight lows in the low 40s.

Veterans Day will be mostly sunny, with a high near 61 degrees. Expect a cooler weekend, with high temperatures in the low 50s.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 60.

Veterans Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 52.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54.
