Virginia Weather Forecast: Cool Off This Week Before Another Hot Weekend

We'll start the week with a chance for afternoon showers Monday, and a slight chance again Tuesday.

But the real weather story this week is the cooler temps.

Monday will still be in the 90s, but cool air moves into the area on Tuesday and we'll have several days in the 80s. The high Wednesday will be 85 degrees!

But, the break from the heat is short lived. We'll be back in the 90s by Friday, setting up for a very hot weekend.

Here's the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 93. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday: A slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 89.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 94.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 96.
