Virginia Weather Forecast: Starting Sunny, Ending Cooler and Watching Tropics
Hurricane Matthew could impact the local forecast by the end of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

STERLING, VA — After the flood threats and rain showers last week, we'll have a sunny and cooler start to October. But, you'll be forgiven for not noticing, since all eyes are going to be on Hurricane Matthew and whether we'll see any damage from this major storm.
The National Weather Service in Sterling reports that Matthew "could be a factor in our weather by the end of the week." But the path for this storm is still unclear and it may stay far enough off the coast as it passes the region next weekend and into the next week.
The week starts with dry conditions Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures above normal, according to the National Weather Service. By Tuesday night, clouds will increase and linger for the rest of the week across the region, with temperatures shifting to slightly below normal.

Hurricane Matthew will move across the Bahamas in the middle of the week, and forecasters are monitoring what impacts, if any, the storm will have on the East Coast. Even if Matthew doesn't hit the shore, wind and rain may be more prominent in the weekend forecast.
