Virginia Weekend Weather: Break From the Heat

This weekend, we'll recover from the dangerous temps that reached their worst on Thursday, with a "feels like" temperature near 105 degrees. But only for a few days, according to the National Weather Service.

The weekend starts with a high near 93 degrees Friday, along with a heat index that will still make it uncomfortable outside. There's a slight chance for storms mid-day and in the afternoon.

Temperatures the rest of the weekend will be limited to the high 80s.

Saturday will offer our best chance for afternoon storms, mainly after 2 p.m. Sunday will be mostly sunny.

The story for the start of the workweek will be the return of the high temps. We'll reach 94 degrees on Monday. Temperatures next week will be higher than normal, but states in the South and Midwest will see worse spikes, according to The Weather Channel.

Friday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 93. West wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 94.
