Virtual Water Academy Applications Due June 1

Local adults and students can learn about water and wastewater services this summer.

The Prince William County Service Authority (PWCSA) is accepting applications for its 2021 Virtual Water Academy.

Anyone who resides, works or goes to school in the county – including high school seniors – may apply for the free program. It seeks to educate participants about the PWCSA, which offers water and wastewater services.

The sessions will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on June 23, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on June 30, and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 7.

How drink water and wastewater are treated, PWCSA operations, and jobs and internships are among the topics that will be covered.

During one of the meetings, participants will be able to receive a virtual tour of the H.L. Mooney Advanced Water Reclamation Facility in Woodbridge.

“We are excited to deliver the Water Academy in a virtual format this year, after having to cancel the program in 2020 due to COVID-19,” Education & Outreach Coordinator Audrey Arnold said in a release. “We will be able to provide an engaging experience for participants by offering virtual presentations and tours, hands-on activities and question-and-answer sessions.”

Prince William County teachers are eligible to receive Continuing Education Credits (CEUs).

Those interested in applying may do so on Survey Monkey by June 1.
