Volunteer:

- Thursday, Oct. 7 was Patch's Give5 Volunteer day, and in the spirit of volunteerism why not use some of your Saturday to give back to the community? We recommend checking out the Occoquan Bay Refuge Festival on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
- Help out the homeless community on Sunday, Oct. 10 by participating in the Woodbridge Walk and Clean-Up for the Homeless Prevention Center (14945 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Woodbridge, VA 22191). To participate, there is a $25 fee for adults and $15 fee for children (includes T-Shirt), proceeds go to the shelter. For more information, view the listing here.
Community Theater:
- The Castaway Repertory Theater will be performing "The Miracle Worker," a play about Helen Keller and her teacher Annie Sullivan on Oct. 8 and 9 at the A.J. Ferlazzo Building in Woodbridge. Art Shows:

- Venture into Old Town Occoquan, just down the road, on Saturday, Oct. 9 for a unique art show hosted by Art A La Carte. The show, titled "Mystery," will feature art by Todd Messegee, Marie Marakowits and Erika Radke. Art A La Carte is open from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m on Saturday. Kids Events:
- Looking for something fun to do with the kiddos and family this weekend? Take advantage of the Chinn Park Regional Library's free event for tots aged 2-6. The "Second Saturday Storyhour & Craft: I Saw the Sea" event will feature crafts and storytelling for kids. - Drop the older kids by The House this evening for a Friday night fun get-together for just $5. Students grades four through 12 are invited to The House for X-box 360, Play Station 3, Nintendo Wii, basketball, pool tables, air hockey, table tennis, soccer, volleyball and food.
