Q: Why are American flags at half-staff today?
A: Flags will be lowered all around the Woodbridge area and Virginia today in remembrance of Trooper Mark D. Barrett, 41, who died Tuesday after a training dive at Lake Anna, VA.
Virginia State Police said that Trooper Barrett joined the force in 2007 and was assigned to patrol in Henrico County and as well as the City of Richmond.

Gov. Bob McDonnell made the flag declaration Sept. 15 that flags were to remain at half-staff until sunset.
