Wind Advisory in Northern Virginia: Timeline, Impacts

The story to the north and west is cool, winter temps overnight, but the focus here will be dangerous winds.

A wind advisory is in effect from midnight tonight until noon Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

High winds are possible Saturday evening through Sunday morning. Winds will be 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. Temperatures are expected to stay in the upper 30s.

A "high wind watch" is no longer in effect.

Scattered tree and power line damage is expected. Residents are told to secure outdoor furniture and use caution when driving high-profile vehicles.
