Winning $250K Virginia Lottery Ticket Bought In Gainesville
A Fauquier County woman who bought a Virginia Lottery ticket in Gainesville wound up winning big.

REMINGTON, VA — Following a recent day at work, Fauquier County resident Samantha stopped by the 7-Eleven at 7489 Limestone Drive in Gainesville, bought a Virginia Lottery "Golden Nugget" ticket, got back in her car and began a telephonic chat with her husband. While doing so, she scratched her ticket.
That's when she began to cry. Seems Haines won a cool $250,000. Later, while claiming her prize at the Virginia Lottery customer service center, she told lottery officials: "I feel a little bit calm (but) I don't know if it just hasn't sunk in."
The mother of five said she plans to use the winnings as a down payment on a house. She's the third person to win the top prize in the game. The odds of winning were 1 in 489,600.
