Woodbridge 4th Of July Fireworks At Ballpark, Dale City Parade

NOTE: Thursday night's Potomac Nationals game has been postponed, as have the fireworks, per the Nats: "Thursday night's fireworks show WILL be rescheduled for a TBD date."

WOODBRIDGE, VA—Given that this is the Potomac Nationals' final season in Woodbridge before the franchise moves to Fredericksburg, Pfitzner Stadium might well be the area's perfect spot to watch 4th of July fireworks. As a bonus, you can even catch a baseball game.

Scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Thursday, July 4, the event also will feature an all-you-can-eat picnic buffet. After the game against the Wilmington Blue Rocks is completed, fans can watch "the best fireworks show of the season.

(As for Independence Day weather, according to the National Weather Service: Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly after 5 p. m. Partly sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 100.)

  • Elsewhere in the area, there's the Dale City Fourth of July Parade. It begins at 10 a.m. and runs along Dale Boulevard from Kirkdale Road to the Dale City commuter lot—where there will be a DJ and various vendors. Included will be marching bands from Gar-Field and Hylton High Schools.
  • Meanwhile, if you're looking to get a head start on things, there's always the wildly popular "Not on the 4th" fireworks gala at Tim's Rivershore, 1510 Cherry Hill Road. Set for Saturday, June 29, the show begins shortly after dark, with the fireworks launched from a barge on the Potomac River.
  • Also on the 29th is the fireworks show at the Workhouse Arts Center (9518 Workhouse Way) in Lorton from 5-10 p.m. A half-hour fireworks display will follow a performance by the U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters.
