Woodbridge Burglar Escapes Through Dog Door: Police
The Prince William County Police Department is looking for a burglar who broke into a home through a dog door on Tuesday morning.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A burglar broke into a home in Woodbridge on Tuesday morning using the residence's dog door, according to a report from the Prince William County Police Department. Authorities said the suspect escaped through the same dog door.
Around 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, officers responded to a home in the 13400 block of Delaney Road in Woodbridge to investigate a reported burglary. The homeowner told police that he encountered the burglar who subsequently fled the scene.
The homeowner said "he was asleep when he woke to the sound of his dog alerting him to an intruder in the home," according to a report from the Prince William County Police Department. When the homeowner went to investigate the disturbance, he encountered an unknown individual standing in the hallway, police said.

As the homeowner began to confront the suspect, the burglar began to immediately flee, according to the police report. The homeowner said he watched the man flee through the dog door at the back of the house.
Authorities said that witnesses saw the suspect run across the property's back yard.

The homeowner then conducted a search of his home in an attempt to identify any missing items. After checking the residence, he noted that an undisclosed amount of money was missing.

Officers noted that there were no signs of forced entry into the home, and they believe that the burglar entered the home through the dog door at the back of the residence.
A police dog responded to the residence and searched for the suspect, but he was not located. The suspect is described as a man of an unknown race, about five feet, nine inches tall, with thin build.
