Woodbridge Man Scores $379K From Virginia Lottery

WOODBRIDGE, VA — One man from Woodbridge just got richer, thanks to the Virginia Lottery. In addition to the oversized check, Mussa Warren won the $379,575 jackpot from the Virginia Lottery's Cash 5 with EZ Match game.

After discovering that he had won the jackpot, Warren maintained his cool. He checked the winning numbers, and saw that they matched his own, just after midnight on Saturday, May 15.

"I started screaming," Warren told Virginia Lottery officials. "The whole house got up. They thought something had happened to me!" To be fair, something did happen to Warren; he became more than $300,000 richer.

"It feels like I'm dreaming," Warren said to lottery officials as he claimed his prize. "It feels incredible."

Warren's winning ticket came from the Giant Food grocery store located at 4309 Dale Boulevard in Dale City, according to the Virginia Lottery. His ticket matched the winning numbers that were announced in the drawing on May 14: 2-21-22-24-29.

The Cash 5 with EZ Match jackpot had been growing for several days. The game features a rolling jackpot that starts at $100,000 and continues to grow into someone matches all 5 numbers, according to the Virginia Lottery.

The odds of purchasing a winning ticket for Cash 5 with EZ Match is 1 in 749,398.

The Cash 5 game allows players to spend an extra dollar when they purchase their ticket to opt in to the EZ Match. A player with EZ Match receives an extra five randomly generated numbers, with a possible prize of up to $500 if any of the numbers on their ticket match the generated numbers.

New winning numbers for Cash 5 with EZ Match are drawn on a daily basis. On Thursday, June 3, the jackpot was worth $125,000.
