Woodbridge Man Wins $115K Jackpot From Virginia Lottery

WOODBRIDGE, VA — One Woodbridge resident is now $115,000 richer. George King won the jackpot in a drawing of the Virginia Lottery's Cash 5 With EZ Match in May.

King matched all five numbers of the lottery's drawing on May 24. The lottery noted that King had won games with the lottery before, but last month's grand prize was his biggest win yet.

"I told my wife, ‘We hit it! We hit the Lottery’," King said to lottery officials as he claimed his prize at their Woodbridge customer service center.

The Cash 5 With EZ Match game features a rolling jackpot that starts at $100,000 and continues to grow into someone matches all 5 numbers, according to the Virginia Lottery.

King used the lottery's Easy Pick program, which allows a computer to randomly select the numbers on his ticket. When the drawing's numbers, 3-13-14-16-31, became a lottery winner.

The odds of purchasing a winning ticket for Cash 5 with EZ Match is 1 in 749,398.

The Cash 5 game allows players to spend an extra dollar when they purchase their ticket to opt in to the EZ Match. A player with EZ Match receives an extra five randomly generated numbers, with a possible prize of up to $500 if any of the numbers on their ticket match the generated numbers.

Despite his newfound winnings, King has his eyes set on bigger prizes. "My next goal is to win Mega Millions or Powerball," he told lottery officials.

New winning numbers for Cash 5 with EZ Match are drawn on a daily basis. On Thursday, June 17, the jackpot was worth $230,000.

King became the second Woodbridge resident to win the EZ Match jackpot in less than a month. On May 15, Mussa Warren learned that he won $379,000 in the game. Coincidentally, Warren also bought his winning ticket at a Giant Food location in Dale City.
